Equity and OER
The global pandemic with the sudden shift to virtual instruction, along with the increased urgency to address socio-economic disparities, are having far-reaching consequences on student success in higher education. In this workshop, we will discuss Open Educational Resources; specifically, the difference between “open" and "free”, how the cost of textbooks affects student success and retention, and the benefits of OER for both students and faculty. We will focus specifically on research that demonstrates the effects on students from traditionally minoritized populations.
