We all feel confused or overwhelmed at times. You are not alone in this! These resources will help you navigate your online course and to connect with our Student Support Services.

Resources for help in our class

Check out the Syllabus—it's full of information about this course!

If you are on a computer, to read the syllabus select the Syllabus link from the left-hand menu
If you are on a phone or tablet, to read the syllabus, choose the Syllabus from the main menu (hit the "<back" button until you get to the main menu)

Student Support Portal

For a list of resources for students, select the Student Support Portal in the Canvas menu. There you'll find free resources, including counseling, academic support, tutoring, and financial aid, and how to borrow a computer.

Chat with a Student Technology Ambassador who's eager to answer any technology-related questions you have between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Just select Tech Ambassador from the Canvas course navigation menu or connect from the Student Technology Support web page.

Academic accommodations

The Disability Resource Center can arrange for extended testing time, low distraction testing environments and adaptive equipment. The Disability Resource Center can also help build a customized accessibility plan for you to make the course material accessible to you based on your individual needs. If you have a visual impairment that requires that you use a screen reader to interpret graphics, it is extremely important that you contact me immediately and also notify your DRC case worker as we will need to work together to build in customized accommodations for the maps and software in this course.

Academic counseling and advising

Counselors can help you create an academic plan, file for graduation, or petition for course substitutions. Make an appointment on the counseling website.

Free VTA bus pass (all you can ride for less than $10)
Foothill CalWorks can provide financial aid and job placement for parents with limited income
Foothill EOPS provides financial aid, tutorial support and academic counseling for students on limited income
Psychological Services at Foothill provides students with free individual and couples counseling. If you are struggling with mental health issues, or just feeling overwhelmed by school and life, they are here to help you.

Canvas resources and how to get help

Help

Need help? Select the Help link in the Canvas menu for chat help, or call the Canvas Student Support Hotline (877) 930-1173 to get help by phone. This help is available 24/7 all day every day.

You can also find help with Canvas at the Student Support Portal.

Canvas Mobile App

The Canvas mobile app is free and available for iOS at the App Store and for Android devices from Google Play. The Canvas Student App has nearly as many functions as the desktop version.

Select "Next" to progress through the module. ⤵
