The Emerging Technologies Institute (ETI) explores new and emerging technologies that potentially provide added value to teaching and learning, help update classes and curriculums to prepare students for future jobs, and provide hands-on experiences in the ETI Labs.

Value to Students

ETI complements students’ degree and/or certificates with immersive STEM experiences that go beyond the classroom. ETI helps students gain the skills and connections they need for a successful transfer to a four-year university, internships, or careers in related fields. ETI provides collaborative spaces for hands-on discovery.

Top-Level Initiatives

Participate in STEM-focused clubs, to explore emerging technologies.
Publish articles in Principia, FHDA’s interdisciplinary STEM magazine.
Collaborate with faculty and staff mentors on research and innovation projects.
Participate in STEM-focused events (e.g. RSLS, Innovation Challenge, etc.)
Engage in industry partnerships and real-world projects that build experience, enhance resumes and strengthen applications for transfers.

Scope

Monitor emerging technologies
Identify technologies with potential or known impact to education
Train and test these technologies in our labs
Make recommendations as to whether these technologies should be incorporated on the Foothill College Roadmap
For those that are added to the Foothill Technology Roadmap, identify campus-wide communication and training
